      The county was named in honor of Lady Anne Arundel, daughter of Lord Arundel, of Wardour, a member of the ancient family of Arundells in Cornwall, England and the wife of Cecilius Lord Baltimore (Cecil Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore).
